NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — Avid space fans in Connecticut had the chance Saturday evening to spot a space launch.

The spacecraft launched from Cape Canaveral in Florida, was seen soaring over the New England area, according to multiple reports from the American Meteor Society.

One report states that it was seen at about 9:30 p.m. from Stonington, appearing in the sky for about 20 seconds.

What did you see? It was the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket, which launched the navigational European Space Agency’s Galileo satellites.

If you managed to spot a bright, green object in the night sky on Friday, it was a meteor that was first sighted above the Long Island Sound.
