MONROE, La. (KNOE) - Newly appointed Director of the School of Biological Sciences, Jamie Newman was awarded the 2025 Conference USA Faculty Achievement Award.

This award is given to only one faculty member at each CUSA institution. The award highlights faculty members dedication to teaching and commitment to their field of study.

Dr. Newman’s research explores how stem cell behavior is influenced by environmental factors with potential for therapeutic possibilities in areas of regenerative medicine and disease treatment.

Newman also plays a crucial role in the VISTA Center which offers an undergraduate certificate.

Newman says, “It is an honor to have my work recognized by Conference USA with this award.”

Newman is an advocate for STEM education and has gathered more than $1.5 million in grants for research opportunities.

Newman’s award qualifies her as a nominee for the CUSA Professor of the Year award.
