HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WCHS) — A Marshall professor has been named the 2024 Professor of the Year for the state of West Virginia, a news release said.
Rachael Peckham, an English professor, was presented the award by the Faculty Merit Foundation of West Virginia at a banquet Thursday, according to a news release from the foundation.
Peckham beat four other finalists from universities all over West Virginia to win the award.
Peckham has been a member of the Marshall faculty since 2009, where she joined as an assistant professor of English. Since, she has gone on to publish various forms of literature and win other professorship awards.
The Faculty Merit Foundation was created in 1984 to provide a means to recognize and reward innovation and creativity among the faculties of West Virginia’s public and private colleges and universities.
Through the Professor of the Year program, the outstanding achievements of those individuals are brought to the attention of the public. The cash prize for Peckham’s award is $10,000.
