Super PAC ad links Hugin to Shkreli

A super PAC, Patients for Affordable Drugs Action will launch a TV ad tonight during the New York Giants-Philadelphia Eagles game on the NFL network highlighting similarities between Bob Hugin and convicted pharmaceutical executive Martin Shkreli.

The ad is part of a $3.2 million campaign by the super PAC to keep Republican Hugin out of the United States Senate,

“Bob Hugin and Martin Shkreli are cut from the same cloth –– they both had no problem forcing patients into debt or fear to line their own pockets,” said David Mitchell, the founder of Patients For Affordable Drugs Action and a cancer patient. “I hope our new ad drives home the point that New Jersey voters should stop Big Pharma CEO Bob Hugin from ever taking the oath of office.”

The super PAC alleges that Hugin exploited cancer patients by doubling the price of a lifesaving drug, while Shkreli also raised the price of a lifesaving drug his company made.

The script: “This is Martin Shkreli, AKA, Pharma Bro, best known for raising the price of a life-saving drug. This is Bob Hugin, a Pharma CEO.  He raised the price of a life-saving drug, too, charging more than $600 for a pill that costs around $1 to make, which helped make him more than $100 million richer. Shkreli took the 5th under oath.  Bob Hugin wants to take the oath to be your next senator.”

  1. And this is Bob Menendez who defended his friend Dr. Melgin who thought it was ok to bill the taxpayers twice or more for the same vial of medicine. He even arranged for high level meetings with Obama Administration officials to endorse the practice. Menendez may be a friend of Dr. Melgin, but he is no friend of the taxpayers.
